Hanoi hotels, Central coast hotel makes weekend, year-end special

The five-star hotel on Vietnam’s central coast Hoang Anh Gia Lai Plaza Danang is offering a special weekend package until mid-December, ahead of several year-end celebrations.

For US$88 a single room per night and an extra $20 for another person, customers will receive daily international breakfast buffet, free use of swimming pool and fitness center, and a special BBQ buffet on Friday or Saturday night on the sky view terrace on the 23rd floor.

Prices include taxes, and the package is applicable until December 17 for a minimum stay of two nights, including Friday or Saturday.

A Christmas Eve candlelight dinner will be served on December 24 with a live band performance, and a New Year Eve countdown party will be held on December 31. Tickets cost $25 per person and $20 for children under 15 years old.

City hotel delivers Christmas gifts to children fighting cancer

The New World Saigon Hotel in Ho Chi Minh City is reopening its annual Christmas tree lighting ceremony to share wishes of children suffering from malignant cancer, giving the guests the chance to make their wishes come true.

The Christmas tree will be adorned with golden stars containing personal wishes of nearly 200 children from the city’s Tumor Hospital.

Guests and visitors at the hotel are encouraged to choose one or more stars to help the children. They can either give money or buy the gift themselves and let the hotel deliver it to the children.

The donations will be taken to the hospital at the end of the year.

For a more relaxing time, guest can check in early from 11:00 a.m. instead of after 2:00 p.m. and check out until 3:00 p.m. instead of by 12:00 p.m.

Adding to the festivity, the known Atrium Café will serve gala dinner buffets for Christmas Eve and

New Year’s Eve with free flowing beverages, a variety of entertainment, and a live performance by Filipino band Infinity at the hotel’s exotic poolside setting. The five-member band will play a medley of popular hits and festive favorites into the late hours of Christmas Eve.

A Santa Clause will deliver gifts to children, while adults can join a midnight toast at the New Year’s Eve countdown with a balloon drop.

Buffet brunch on Christmas Day and New Year Day will be complemented with a guitar and violin duo.

Tickets will be available for sale at the hotel lobby counter starting December 10.

The hotel’s Japanese restaurant, Yoshino, will also feature special menus for the celebrations.

Christmas set dinner, or Christmas Omakase, will be served from December 20-25. A traditional eight-course omakase will be served on New Year’s Eve, and a traditional set lunch and dinner on January 1 and 2, 2012.
